Robert Browning
Robert Browning (7 May 1812 – 12 December 1889) was an English poet and playwright whose mastery of dramatic verse, especially dramatic monologues, made him one of the foremost Victorian poet. His mother was a pianist and his father a bank clerk . Learned Greek, Latin, Italian, and French all by the time he was 14. He attended the University of London in 1828. He had changing religious beliefs and his work reflected his life. He wrote dramatic poems about love and lovers. Was one of the greatest poets of Victorian England. His first poem was "Pauline". Robert Browning is most well known for his poem "The Ring and the Book." In 1846 Browning married the poet Elizabeth Barrett. He had one son, Robert Wiedemann Barrett Browning. He lived in Italy until his wife's death in 1861.
