Voices in Text
Helps to create a chracater.
Drives the narrative forward but its not
simple.
Theres an external voice and an internal voice
(monalogue).
Third
person Narrative - "The man is walking down the street"
First
person Narrative - "I am walking down the
street"
Thoughts :
First person
Narrative → You talk to the reader
Third person narrative → The
Narrator says what it looks like the characters are thinking or feeling. This is intradiegetic
Monologue
- One
voice
Internal monalogue - The voice inside the head.

- Narrator (Homodiegetic) - A narrator that is in the
story too. - Narrator (Intradiegetic) - In the story; they know
parts of the story but not everyone elses story. (E.g. Nick
Carraway) - Narrator (Omniscent) - They tell you everything
(context). You have to trust them. - Direct Speech - Find out ideology of speaker.
- Persona - Not the poet. Its the person or character
speaking in the poem. - Attributed Speech - Unreliable → Its
what other characters say about what other characters have said. The problem
with this is that it is like chinese whispers.
Its says more
about the person that is pseaking than what is actually being said. → They
change it to suit their point of view.
